EAST ST. LOUIS - Illinois State Police report that a 30-year-old man was fatally injured when he dove through a window this morning as police officers executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of 15th Street.
Police said the man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
State Police Master Trooper Ralph Timmins said officers of the State Police Tactical Response Team and the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois were serving a search warrant about 7 a.m. when the man dove through and out of a first-floor window. Timmins said the man’s injuries were caused by broken glass.
State Police were continuing to investigate the matter. An autopsy was under way this afternoon.
