You can tell things are getting bad and people are concerned when Costco starts selling survival foods.

I don't think things are getting bad. Freeze dried food has a long shelf life. Some last for years. Preparation for a disaster is the key. Whether it be earthquakes, tornado, hurricane or whatever else mother nature can dish out...you will be prepared.
Living in earthquake country, we have a supply of water, freeze dried food, non perishables, clothing etc stashed away.
We have the camping type that has many different entrees and not bulk. I can't imagine opening a can of eggs(listed) and it has 236 servings a can.Last edited by deputy x 2; 10-13-2009, 02:19 PM.This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made. -

That's the STATE of Washington right? If it was Washington D.C., the unemployment rate would be more like 75% with the government and all!!!

I can see where things are getting bad. You can't even find a crummy job to work anymore. I'm in the hiring process with an agency right now, they changed their hiring process and it now takes three to four months to get hired in. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out how to make money to survive between now and then. I can't find anything. Times are getting tough and the unemployment rate isn't any better than it was.Comment

When we get him w/ a hurrican we buy water food, ect, but sometimes the storm weakens and the storm isn't too bad, so we eventually have food and water for a bout 3 months...Sometime we have so much we give it to charity, once hurricane season is over...
Beside, Costco sells everything by the bulk...
And yes, the economy still sucks...sigpicComment

I particularly appreciate they took the time to break it down for the survivalist who's bad at math.
