  • Terrorism Suspect Najibullah Zazi

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_c...rror_plot.html

^^^ This link shows how Zazi purchased common beauty supplies in order to test out easy to make explosives.

For those of you who have been watching the news lately, this guy Najibullah Zazi was arrested under being an active Al-Qaeda cell preparing to launch a terrorist attack. It really hasn't been getting that much coverage because in my opinion, the media would rather have a "juicy" tragedy to report rather than FBI taking down a sleeper cell without any causalities.

Just a few quotes from the article:

Najibullah Zazi also filled his cart with bottles of nail polish remover and hair dye agents like Clairoxide Liquid Developer. Sometimes Zazi was joined on his shopping trips to the beauty supply stores in suburban Denver by other bearded men who looked like they'd never been to a beauty parlor, the feds said.

They knew the hydrogen peroxide - and the other acetone-based goodies that Zazi bought - could be used to make deadly bombs.
And they already had been watching Zazi for more than a year, after wiretaps caught him communicating with Osama Bin Laden's followers, sources said.
Zazi drew the attention of the feds on Aug. 28, 2008, when he took off from Newark for Peshawar, Pakistan - a teeming terrorist nest on the Afghan border.

cops had seized his rental car and found a laptop loaded with nine handwritten pages of bomb-making instructions.

Zazi admitted getting "weapons and explosives" training last year at an Al Qaeda camp in Pakistan, sources told The News.
Back home in Aurora, a barefoot Zazi insisted, "I'm not a terrorist."

Though I agree the media does love them some juicy stories, I don't agree it's not getting coverage. I've seen it all over the place.

He lived in Aurora with his dad. There's a very large beauty supply warehouse off the west side of I-225.

I have to say it. I do not understand why I've worked as a cop, next-door to a rather prominent USAF facility, the one where they send all the future officers to...the one that has well-attended football games every other weekend in the fall, along with many other sports and entertainment events (recently comedian Dennis Miller, the Beach Boys last summer)... and not once has what I considered this high-value terror target to be, held any kind of briefing on response to a gate shooting, or other attack on it, with my small town PD.

I have 3 bases in my beat, and none have held any kind of briefing with us. Yet my base where I do my reserve time has the local PD patrolling on the base along side the MPs (in their own cars). We have a good relationship with the local PD. It all depends on the base commander.
