  • I hope I don’t become a rookie like this.

Yesterday my father’s office manager had her car hit while it was parked. Someone smacked her front bumper and knocked the front license plate off in the act.

She of course reported it to police, and in taking the report the officer cited her for not having a front license plate on her car while the license plate was lying there on the ground as he was taking a report for a non injury hit and run.

The incident resulted in her making a visit to the chief (who of course tore up the ticket).

Wow……. Basically, the agency is a tiny little thing where everyone but the admin staff are reserves.

Well, he was just itching get that first ticket out.

Too bad it was a hit and run, had the other vehicle stayed the cops wouldn't have shown up due to the fact it was private property.

I'll never forget two wits/victs to a crime exiting their car, parked in the red, walking a half-block, to speak with the handling unit, and one of the backing units whipped out a parking ticket on their car. Idiot, worthless cop. He's a union rep now.

Um....What's being a reserve have to do with anything? Are you implying reserves do not know how to handle a situation? Explain to me, please????

My brother ran across the street in LA somewhere to report a hit and run on his car to a passing b&w. The officer cited him for jay walking I have no idea if that doutch is subsequently an admin weeny.

That's like going to a car vs. deer crash and issuing the person a cite for equipt violations. Ie- no headlight. Who would do that, nobody. This is a dumb, made up story. We all know story tellers and this is one of them. I'm sorry for being so realistic.

I'm sorry, let me guess, your brother's probably a nice, non-confrontational guy. So it was an easy number for a cop who needed a cite. Some of our brother and sister cops, sometimes, seem to go out of their way to make us all look like pr-ck$!

I'll never forget an LDS Cop/Chaplain/friend of mine asking why a particular motor cop in the SF Valley was making life miserable for the young Mormon Missionaries on their bikes. The motor cop's boss happened to be an LDS Bishop. The motor cop admitted it was about numbers, and nice compliant violators.

Look, before I get jumped on, I admit that "nice people" need tickets too, sometimes. But as a patrol cop I tried to use citations as a way to "plant warrant seeds" on turds I knew I'd be dealing with, or my brothers and sisters would be dealing with on other calls, for other reasons, later. Not mom & pop, not Sister Mary Ignatius, not the school teacher trying to get to class. There's just something about having a problem child standing in front of you, mouthing off about the M-F'ing po-leece, you run the descriptors, look upwards praying and the "RTO godess" says back, "The return on your suspect, 'Richard Head' comes back with two FTA traffic warrants, bail amount is (more $$$ than he has in his pockets)." Problem solved for the night if no other charge exists.
