Cats, beware: Use the kitty litter box in Robert Taylor's house.
Upset that his cat pooped on his bed while he was sleeping, Taylor took the animal to the garage of his home on the first block of Hawthorne Lane about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to "scare it," according to police.
According to police:
Taylor, 43, and his girlfriend were fighting before the shooting about the cat's dirty deed. He grabbed the cat.
"I'm going to shoot this [expletive] cat," Taylor said.
He took it to the garage and let it go, shooting into a "life jacket" on the floor. The cat ran and hid.
Police came and Taylor admitted to drinking and firing the weapon to teach the cat a lesson, according to investigators.
The cat was not injured, but Taylor was sent to jail on charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling and using a firearm while under the influence. Taylor's girlfriend could not be reached for comment, despite attempts by phone and a visit to her home.
Police said the house -- which also has dogs in it -- had pet droppings on the carpets, floors, bed and in the garage that did not appear to be recent.
