How exactly do you deny being part of the invasion when you're found in the house and you don't know the residents? Say they kidnapped you? Geez.
A man who authorities say broke into a suburban Lake Worth home might have wished he hadn't, after the seven residents beat him with his own baseball bat, breaking his arm and splitting his head, according to reports.
Manuel Jesus Lacott, 24, also known as Jesus Manuel Lacott, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail this morning, records show. He was expected to have a bond hearing on Saturday.
Lacott is charged with home invasion armed robbery, one count of aggravated battery with a weapon, and seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
A second man is at large.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's log entry, at about 2:40 a.m. today, as seven men were asleep in a home in the 4000 block of Kirk Road, at Lake Worth Road, two men used a screwdriver to jimmy the front door.
The men, armed with baseball bats, began banging and forced their way into bedrooms.
But the residents confronted the two.
One was able to run out and was seen getting into a gray vehicle, which drove off.
But the men - two 52-year-olds and the other five ranging in age from 29 to 35 - grabbed Lacott and got the bat away, then beat and kicked him and hit him with his own bat until deputies arrived.
Lacott suffered a broken right arm as well as a head wound that required three staples. He was taken to JFK Medical Center in Atlantis.
He later denied taking part in the home invasion, authorities said.
According to jail records, Lacott had previously been arrested at least seven times since 1998 on drug and traffic charges and for failing to appear in court.
