  • Honolulu seeking to ban 'BO' on buses

    From: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_odd_stinky_bus_bill

Stinky city bus riders soon could get soaked. The Honolulu City Council is considering a bill that would impose up to a $500 fine and/or up to six months in jail for public transit passengers convicted of being too smelly.

The bill will be heard Thursday in committee. It would make it illegal to have "odors that unreasonably disturb others or interfere with their use of the transit system."

It doesn't matter if it's body odor or offensive fumes that emanates from clothes, personal belongings or animals.

Councilmen Rod Tam and Nestor Garcia co-sponsored the anti-odor bill.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii says it is concerned with laws that are inherently vague, which opens the door to discriminatory enforcement based on an officer's individual prejudices.
Could you imagine having to enforce this?

I wonder if Mayor Daley saw this...fundraising for the olympics?!

Although I would appreciate it when sitting next to a stinker, this seems a little too subjective to enforce.

Heck, I thought you were talking about Obama.
The liberal politician has the only job where they go to the office to work for everyone but those who pay their salary.

It's an excuse to throw homeless people off the bus, I guess.

That's crazy. Law enforcement has more serious laws to enforce than trying to get stinky people off a bus, imo.

Bus Driver: "Excuse me sir, um, you stink, so, um, you can't right this bus."
BO Man: "Uh, that's no body odor, that's my cologne"
Bus Driver: "Uh, well, you still stink, you can't ride this bus"
                          BO Man: Damn socialist!
