  • Oh, no! North Carolina steps up to the IDIOT PLATE!

Boy suspended for having shotgun SHELL in school:

    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=29729

However, the article makes the poor kid's MOM out to be just as big of an idiot as the administration.

    quote:
Covered from head to toe in his gear, the fourth-grader was "a very happy camper," according to his mother, excited to show off his new hunting boots, hat, mesh face mask, shirt, bib, pants and boots.

"They shouldn't have had Camouflage Day," said Kay Cross, Jonathan's mother. "It's militaristic; it has connotations of violence. He just happened to have a shell in his pocket."

"When you guys get home and face an anti-war protester, look him in the eyes and shake his hand. Then, wink at his girlfriend, because she knows she's dating a *****."

We need more school administrator control laws, they're just to dangerous to be unregulated!

Excuse me...I have a question. The school administration is quoted as saying that a five day suspension is NOT HARSH? That is five days (1 week) of instruction being missed. I don't care if this kid has all his school work at home to do; he is not in the classroom receiving instruction, where he should be. Should the kid have a shotgun shell at school? Of course not. Should it have been taken away from him at school? Absolutely. But what is he learning from all this? That oversights are strictly forbidden...and I truly believe that's what happened here. This was a forgotten item in his clothes, not something he purposely slipped into a pocket to take to school and impress friends.

I think Mom needs to get a lawyer and the kid needs a transfer to another school...hopefully where they have some common sense infused into their school rules and regs.

There are no schools unlike that one.

Shooter, while North Carolina has its fair share of idiots, I don't think this reflects the attitude of the state. I have actually seen a few instances where the "Zero Tolerance" policy was overlooked by school administrators with positive results.

Besides, if we didn't have events like this make the paper every once in a while, too many people would move here trying to avoid their local idiots.

When I was in high school (not that long ago, graduated in 1996), we had a chemistry teacher show us IN CLASS how to make nitrogen tri-iodide, which is a contact explosive. It's also pretty damn powerful. Nobody got suspended, or expelled, fined, or threatened. We saw it, watched it go off (under controlled circumstances!) and said, "Man, that was awesome".

That was just 7 years ago! How have schools gotten THIS sensitive so fast?

But it sure is nice to hear about your local idiots then hear about my local idiots all the time [Wink]
