    cutbacks in Ma

This is one of the worst cities in the area crime wise(north of Boston). Lots of gangs,a few shootings, lots of drugs and prositutes, and If any city should be adding officers it is this one.
(Not just saying this because I'm on the list, and work there.)
Is this what it's like all over the country?

      Absolutley not.

I used to live in Fall River.I went up there a couple years ago to see some kinfolk up there and in Somerset.

You people are being taxed to death and you dont even realize it because you dont know any better.

They tell you that you must be taxed more or they will reduce "services".

To make a comparison, I live in a 2400 square foot(worth about a half million where you're at) brick house, have a 36X24 shop behind the house and own 20 acres of land. My property tax is around 400$ a year.

Where I live we dont have prostitution, gangs and not just a whole lot in the way of crime. Most of our stuff is domestic disputes. We do bust a meth lab every now and then, but they seem to be few and far between.

When our dept. has "cutbacks" that usaully just means that we might not replace some of the older vehicles for awhile, we usaully try to do 4 or 5 a year, we might cut it to 2 or 3.

I cant figure out why yall are being raped on the taxes, yet it appears that you dont have the services we do, and you have more crime to boot.I had a cousin come spend a week with me. She was in a state of shock when we compared several things. She just assumed that conditions were the same everywhere as they were there.

      Trust me on this...they're not.

          Mr Orange:

When I went to seem my kinfolk ,it looked like Fall River had been cleaned up a bit. I also lived in Tiverton,R.I., right across the line from Fall River. There when I was about 6 , my dad bought a house for 21,000. It recently sold for 331,000. This was only a 1500 square foot house. The population of the town was about the same as when I left, and the town looked exacltly as I remember it 35 years ago.It looked to me as if time had stopped.

What I didnt understand is how can things cost so much ? My cousins all have great jobs, and they have very little if any disposable income after house payments and taxes. I have an aunt in Somerset that pays more in taxes every month than my house payment is.

How can that be? They all talk about how much it cost to live there. While I was there, I failed to see what they were paying for. Am I missing something ?

Where is all the money going ? How can one pay so much tax and constantly hear about cutbacks ?
