Either way I think it's pretty great that he has gone through all the training and earned the title rather than just do it as a publicity stunt. On a side note, how long is the academy for full time "level 1" officers in CA?

There are 3 modules (level 3 which includes 832 PC - laws of arrest, level 2 and level 1 - the longest) which are generally taken in the evenings and weekends and take 1 year. These courses are usually held at community colleges. You can also choose to go to a full time academy which takes about 18 weeks (664 required hours). In the end the required training is the same as any full-time LEO.

Steven Segal is getting his own reality TV show on A&E. He's been a reserve deputy with Jefferson Parish for 2 decades and they will be filming his exploits.... I could be wrong but I think he was unarmed.

Once upon a time, I really enjoyed Steven Seagal movies. The last one I gave any approving nod to was Under Siege. Everything which followed was, and is, pure direct-to-video crap.
