Handing out badges to celebrities is like giving "Honorable Mention" awards at day camp. It's an embarrassing pitch for quick publicity by media whore law enforcement managers, that cheapens the department generally and demeans officers (who really work) specifically. These "gimmicks" should be prohibited and badges given only to those who deserve them.

NOt only did it hit rock bottom, He does have that DV stuff. I dont know if the GF-wife pressed charges but I do know she was banged up and there were pics.
Its all in goo PR for JPSO and for him, hell everyone needs a job. So. thats what they did, as far as making a show about it, that equals nothing but crap, lies and over the top mush.

So now he is a celebrated wife/girlfriend beater with a badge! Guess money can buy just about anything. Possessing a badge however and being a Cop are two completely different things.

        +1

I could just imagine admin types who I never see in the daily grind because they are at their desks parading him around like they were old friends, and mugging for the newpaper photographer.

This reminds me of another show, where they made like six celebrities cops and then ran around filming them....

Steven Seagal... in a reality show... showing exactly WHAT reality?

I'm involved in the whole broadcast/film business. I can promise you that everything that the public will see is exactly what they want to see, nothing more. I tried once to pitch a well balanced reality show to some network sales types.... ain't gonna fly. If the general public actually watched a show about all my LE friends doing their jobs, they'd fall asleep 90% of the time, life one eye lid 8% of the time and actually pay attention 2% of the time. Guess what the 2% is....

...****ed off officers, seriously messed up individuals, "apparent" abuse, over the top high speed chases, and other assorted train wrecks...

They'll never see you quietly and professionally just doing your job and protecting their collective butts. it just isn't good TV.

            cheers

From March 20, 2001 on David Letterman

Top Ten Messages On Steven Seagal's Answering Machine

                  10. "Great film. Was it a challenge memorizing your four lines?"

                  9. "This is Blockbuster. You have a bunch of overdue Steven Seagal movies"

                  8. "You know that part when the bad guy said something that made you mad, so you kicked him? How do you come up with stuff like that?"

                  7. "This is Bob at the carwash. All of a sudden you're too big to come to work?"
                  6. "Hey, Steve, it's the devil. Remember that contract you signed?"

                  5. "Stevie Seagal, it's Josh Goldstein from your Hebrew school"

                  4. "Hey, it's Letterman. Can you give me a ride to kung fu class?"

In his upcoming movie Steven is reincarnated as Zambo, the crime fighting gull. He takes crap off no man, yet unleashes plenty of his own!

I enjoyed Steven Seagal at the start of his career. I made allowances for (what I believe to be) his bogus CIA affiliation stories. Then his waistline increased to just short of the size of his ego. Then his mob & Pellicano ties arose. Then his supposedly being the reincanated Buddhist diety...this guy, who was just a student body president in some friggin' Orange County, CA H.S. is so out there, he might actually believe he's half of what his own media handouts say about him.

Now, WTF, someone's handing him a badge?

What's the deal with Jefferson Parish? First I saw them on that show Rookies. I believe I also saw them on Speeders or one of the other real-tv cop shows that have come and gone. And now this?

Does their public information officer have a SAG card?
