      We had a man shoot his wife this way and a father shoot his 16 year old daughter this way. Both died. This is why I don't want a gun. I wouldn't be responsible enough with one. I think fear would overcome me to the point they could get the gun for me or I would shoot randomly.

        Exactly. That's why responsible gun owners will verbally challenge an intruder before firing on them. You never know who it could be. Heck, a verbal challenge may actually scare an intruder into running away, eliminating the need to shoot them. These are unfortunate incidents that just show what happens when you shoot first and ask questions later.
