are you a head shaver???

ive been shaving my head with electric clippers for years now, just recently i started using my mach 3. it works great except it wears out the blades and the lube strip really fast and the refills are pretty expen$ive, so ive been thinking of buying a straight razor (barber style) but dont know how to use one and honestly im pretty scared i might nick something...

so, what do you guys (i truly hope none of you ladies are head shavers ) recommend? any tips on using a straight razor?

What ever you do, DO NOT USE NAIR!!!!

It will burn!!!!!

If you want that really smooth look, a good razor is the only way to go and Mach 3's are good razors. If you just want close but not razor close, just use your electrics clippers.

As for a straight razor, your gonna nick yourself, and you gotta worry about sharpening it.

By the way, I didn't do the NAIR thing myself, it happend to a buddy, honest!!!!!!!!!!

Do I shave my head? Not so long as I still have my own hair! But when it starts to fall out soon you betcha I will.

I've known people who have shaved their heads with razors. They used the older style two blade razors and they seemed to work ok. Maybe not better than Mach 3's but cheaper anyway.

BTW, does anyone know where to buy one of the old style straight razors? I've been wanting one for years but I've never seen one.

I agree. My sister used it alittle while ago after saying how good it is supposed to be. She put a strip on her leg, yanked, and thats all she wrote.

Not a head shaver at all. I'm afraid if I ever did that, it wouldn't grow back. Nothin' funnier looking than a shaved 'dog.

Try it in the shower. I know it works good for face shaving.

i thought nair was a foam that you spread on and then rinse off, the chemicals in the foam "eat away" the hair. pulling out hair from the roots...thats some sick s**t

Nature shaved my head against my will a long time ago.

Hell, I have a beard, because I hate to even shave my face! I keep the beard trimmed neatly, and keep my hair cut pretty short, tho.

I would not mess around trying to shave my own head with a straight razor; slip up, and you could end up looking like Van Gough! Seriously, those can be dangerous, so it is not a good idea to mess with one of those if you have not had training.

If you are determined to get a straight razor, I have seen them for sale at gun shows, by those who sell knives and such. Or, ask any barber. Perhaps they can tell you where to buy one.

Reemphasising the point; BE CAREFUL. Those things are dangerous, and can cut clear to the bone!

From your post, it doesn't sound like your sister used a depilatory, such as Nair. Sounds more like wax, probably a sugar-based wax with a muslin strip.

I keep my hair short to about 1/4 inch long for most of the year. It is allowed to grow long in the winter with my beard but otherwise my personnal hair stylist Sandie keeps me looking nice and clean looking the rest of the time.
