The worst of the gasoline price spike appears to be over in Houston as refiners have begun churning out enough gasoline to meet demand.
Wholesale prices already have dropped and prices at the pump are expected to trend slowly downward through the summer.
A handful of stations in Houston have cut prices by 10 to 15 cents per gallon in the last few days. Signs spotted Friday included a Racetrac at $1.459, a pair of Exxons at $1.439 and $1.419, and Albertson's supermarkets offering regular at $1.399.
