Todays police work brings along a ton of stress. What are your hobbies and some past times that you engage in to get your mind off police work, or do to unwind after a day. And some recommendation/pointers for others on how to relieve this stress.

Powerlifting - great stress outlet. The ride home on my Gold Wing is a good way to wind down. I am learning to fly, which is a great way to get your mind off work and clear of any other distractions.Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. - Ronald Reagan

I have found out that a good workout followed by a nice cold shower or jump into a pool is great. Then after I get home I relax with a computer game or a nice quiet evening in front of the tv watching the weather channel. I sometimes will get into a good book. I pretty much did all I could to let my mind wander and not think about work at all.

Check out the racing pics. That's what I'm into. Hopefully someday I will be more than just taking pics and pitting. The yellow and black truck would be my first choice as a patrol unit.I also dabble in fabricating and working on my 4x4.

Outside of the damn internet thing.. I mess with tons of hot older women, drink alot, play the guitar and cuss.. (just kidding). I unwind by cooking, collecting police patches and roadchamp police cars, model trains, women (I have found my next conquest on here heehee)and guitar playing

We've done this topic before but there's nothing wrong with re-hashing it. Music, TV, computers, & history are my stress busters. Even though our band is made up of police officers, we usually don't talk shop. Sometimes it can't be helped.
Whatever you like to do OTHER THAN police related will help ease the stress. But collecting patches or rebuilding an old police car or things like that are not bad if you don't lose sight of what you are doing it for.

I love to fly when Im off duty. I also like to train with my K9 even when Im off duty. Theres just something magical about seeing the clouds underneath you or your k9 finding dope. I also take my boat out from time to time. Other than that, coaching high school soccer keeps me really busy in the fall.As my friend says: All Narc, No Bite

Someone mentioned "talking shop." I agrre with what was said, but this is the only place I do talk shop-my wife gets mad if I don't tell her all the details of my day, and I usually don't. I do not talk to others about it, usually.
Only in order they come to me-not neccesarily order of importance-
Internet
Church/missions
Quality time with wife
Quality time with dog
Quality time with friends
Traveling to wife's relatives, and visiting (GA, AL)
Photography
Hiking/Wilderness Camping
Mountain Biking (more cruising than WFO)
High Speed Gadgets (knives, guns, flashlights, etc.)
SCUBA Diving on rare occasions
Movies (at home) ESPECIALLY classic war movies (DVD with Surround Sound, baaaaaby!)
You must have hobbies!!!! You must have outlets, and focus. I know people (God bless 'em) who's whole life is get up, go to work, come home, watch TV, eat, go to bed, repeat.
Not as long as I have a breath in me could I live like that-no wonder these are a lot of our repeat customers-I'd lay drunk too!People have more fun than anybody.
