PETA may not be too sensitive but they do have a valid point. Suprise! Suprise! Suprise! If you go swimming in the ocean, you MAY get eaten by a shark. If you do not like your odds, go to the pool.

BUT popeye.. I don't think that was their point!

I think it was pretty damn insensitive of them to capitolize on such a tragedy to further their viewpoints.

I have actually made the error of trying to discuss matters with the PETA folks, outside a fastfood place...they lack humor, resonable insight and they are on a holy mission!

Their spokesmen really have said PETA would rather have people die, than eat anything PETA protects.

Animals do have rights. And when an animal dies they should be cremated. At 325 degress for 3 hours. With garlic and butter.

Well, I abhore animal violence. In fact, that is how my family got two of our dogs.. one was tied in a garbaged bag, the other was abandoned in the snow. My cats were found abandoned on the side of the road. I volunteer at a animal shelter and will speak out against SOME testing on animals.

BUT, I am not a fanatic like the PETA people. I value human life more so than a animals life.

When you enter a discussion with these whack jobs, ask them about the pain and suffering the deceased plants went through to become their meal.

As the only resident vegetarian, I am not in agreement with the majority of tactics employed by P.E.T.A. in the name of animal rights. I do not attempt to convert any meateaters. I do not preach, protest, or bitch and moan about someone eating a big, fat, greasy, artery clogging 1/4 pound of rotted animal flesh. I just choose not to.

I also received an E-mail last week about the shark attack involving the little kid. While I cannot vouch for the legitimacy of this story, it seemed pretty authentic. The story was along the lines that the boy's uncle was shark fishing from the surf. When he landed Jaws, the family waded to the surfline to see what Uncle had caught. It was at that moment that the shark sprang and attacked the child. The story then spoke of the Uncle's suicide attempt due to his feeling responsible for the situation and the family's reluctance to accept funds to alleviate the accumulating medical costs.

And while it is disheartening to hear these tragic stories, it is also expected. I mean you don't climb into the lion cage at the zoo, do you?

Hmmm, I actually prefer my meat fresh; thanks all the same.

I believe the story of the shark attack is true. I caught a glimpse of it on the news last night. I disagree with the analogy of climbing into the lions cage. The proportion of bathers vs. bathers attacked by sharks, is pretty low.

Therefore it is not to be expected, because it is a rare occurence.

How ridiculous. People don't rotting meat. You may enjoy a little crap tartar, but no one I know does.

Rotten meat. Well if that is how you percieve it then I will not argue with your facts. I do know however that when man first walked the earth he was a meat eater he did not learn how to farm and harvest grains for a few hundred years of roaming after the herds. I like my meat and I can safely say from working in a meat processing plant that the meat is very fresh and well refrigerated and frozen to ensure that no rotten meat makes it to the consumer. Every now and then something will go wrong but that is life. Nothing is better how ever than going out with a rifle, pistal, sword, bow and arrow and killing nice fresh game to enjoy for dinner. But that is just me.
