Subway is second rate. If I want a sandwich, I go to Quizno's and get a regular size Traditional. Nothing else like it!

I like Subway alright, I guess. I used to go there alot when I was in patrol. I could see them making it(so no "suprises"), it was easy to take with and traveled well. If my dinner got interupted, the rest saved easy.
HOWEVER!!!
A Subway is not a TRULY GOOD sandwich.
But in my neck of the woods, it is nigh on to impossible to find GOOD deli!!
My favorite sandwich? Hmmm?
A pastrami on light rye with melted swiss and hot mustard, LIGHTLY toasted.
A GOOD mufelletta. (again, you gotta travel to get one)
I LOVE a good meatball grinder! But the meatballs have to be good handmade Italian meatballs, not this american crap where they leave out all the good tasting fat!
Another favorite...leftover Thanksgiving turkey on white bread! An American tradition!! Best served in the middle of the night while standing in front of the fridge while trying not to wake up the realtives sleeping on an inflatable mattress in the living room!!
As you may guess, Sparky LOVES a good sandwich!

Apparently I don't have the gourmet tastes of others around here because I love Subway....
Meatball grinders with American cheese, and none of that healthy vegetable crap to get in the way"They want the federal government controlling Social Security like it's some kind of federal program" ~George W. Bush, November 2, 2000

I really like Quizno's but since we don't have one I go to Subway for a grilled chicken on wheat with the honey mustard. Jason's Deli is pretty good but a little steep in price. So is Honey-B-Ham. I don't like the bread at Schlotzsky's. The very best sandwich though is made at home. Honey wheat bread, sliced ham, American cheese, sliced sweet pickle, sweet onion, & lettuce. Yum, yum!

My favorite is the Ferdie po'boy (I think that's what it's called) from Mother's in New Orleans. It includes the drippings and shavings from their roasted hams, mmmmm. My second favorite sandwich is the muffaletta from Central Grocery, also in New Orleans. Nothing stands out in my local area.

My first try at Subway was in Hawaii in 1990.
I said to the girl, "I want white bread that is dried out with crust that almost breaks my teeth, with too much salt sprinkled over the ham which must be mostly fat, and I want the cheese to be greasy and smelly, like it has been unrefrigerated for 2 or 3 days".
She said, "we don't serve anything like that here"
I replied with "You did 10 minutes ago. So you can have it back and give me a refund"
I've never eaten subway since.
