I just saw this on youtube and I know some will question if it was a clean shoot or not.... I don't care about that at all he was warned numerous times and paid the price for his stupidity, I'm just wondering how the hell the camera got in it's location? Or better yet a little more information pertaining to the incident?

This incident occurred MANY years ago.......the camera was there because it was brought to the scene by the Sgt.......

I think it has been discussed a couple of times here on the boards.

Uhhh....I'm not a K-9 officer but I do work with our team and from what I understand about the utilization of dogs that K-9 should have NEVER been sent into that situation. Of course I was not there, but I would surmise there was a breakdown in communication.

That makes sense, I figured it had to be one officers/tactical teams that placed it there or the suspect was in the right place at the right time so to speak.

Yeah....except when someone dies from being overdosed by the tranquilizer darts......then we get sued for that too.....

what would have worked here?.....him giving up would have ended it without further violence......the suspect often dictates his/her own fate by their actions......

The tranq gun honestly doesn't even sound good in theory....the drug takes far too long to take effect......as well as the difficulty in properly guessing the dosage needed ect ect......

The situation is even MORE frustrating when you know some of the details of the incident that I wont post on a public board......

Typically I'm not one to value the life of an animal over a human, but in this case I felt bad seeing the dog fearlessly doing what it's trained for and paying the ultimate price. I couldn't tell, but I'm guessing the distressed/P.O.'d off commentary I hear in the video is coming from the dog handler? I can't imagine how hard it would be to see your dog being caught in the middle of friendly fire like that. From what I've read (from wikipedia, mind you) the officers were ordered to release the dog.

I couldn't find anything online and I was wondering if there were any legal actions taken out against the department/officers? I read that it turned out he didn't have a gun, although the officers couldn't have possibly known that until afterwards because he was hiding the object (a flip-flop) from their view. To me it seems like the guy wanted to die and that day he got his wish.

I do find it a little interesting they rush to give aid to the dog before the human.
