im curious as to know what current officers think of his tactics.

very aggresive yet very exposed. overall, im just glad he's safe.

I was thinking along the same lines. It scared me seeing him out in the open light that. I'm in no position to question or comment on his tactics, however. It was relieving to see the outcome was good for the officer. Was the robbery suspect hit?

That wasn't too far from me really. I dunno....with some of the training that we went through as far as going to Iraq, etc what he did made sense. He wasn't fired upon until he was approaching the vehicle and closing the distance is something we trained in. That whole near ambush rush....far ambush fall back.

That however is one thing....he did move toward the opposite side of the door limiting the movement and kill zone of the suspect. Just my thoughts.

It appeared as the officer was closing the distance on the suspects vehicle, the suspect just popped open the door and started firing. What can you do other than throw some heat back at the suspect while moving towards more cover/concealment?

Can you guys not see that the crooks gun and hand are caught in the door holding it ajar? He was obviously hit immediatly, then the officer went out where he could get off some more shots to insure the threat was elliminated. Which is the right thing to do at that point. IMHO

Hard to judge not knowing all the facts, but I say good job. I would rather call out the suspects from behind cover, especially in a robbery situation, but sometimes you just have to go with what's presented to you.

I think he did a good job of moving and shooting. Like Ralph said, when the feces strikes the spinning, personal cooling device - you do what you need to do.
"We're not in this business for the money. We're not in it for the excitement, and moments like this. Duty, honor, country, service, truth, and justice are good. But you can do that from behind a desk. In the end, you carry a gun and shield out into the field for the sole purpose of confronting the bad guys. The enemy. There is no other reason to be on the front lines." ~Nelson Demille

                    He acted well.

The officer was advancing to neutralize the threat when the suspect began firing. The officer immediately returned fire while moving off of the "X" and continuing to fire. The officer did everything as right as possible given the information in the video.

If anyone had KNOWN that the suspect would begin shooting, the answer would have been to stay behind cover and respond with a rifle.

I don't think he should have been standing straight up during the magazine change. Tall grass was his only cover, so he should have got low and kept moving.

The video was incomplete. I don't know if his getting in the line of fire was the result of an error on his part. I think he did a good job of the wide flanking move and shoot. I agree with Chad McCumbers on this.

It looked like the target acquistion and grouping were good, as JonesZ said.

I couldn't tell much about the positions or actions of the other officers when the shooting started, but the specifics regarding that may have influenced some of the actions.

I'm glad the officers went home safe, sorry they had to kill someone, and glad the person that wound up getting killed was the bad guy and not any of the officers.
