  • Stupid People

Until I become King and can make it a law that you can shoot stupid people on sight I will only go so far to save you from killing yourselves from your own stupidity or lack of common sense...why this rant you ask....well sit back and I'll tell you the story.

If you happen to be out in a full blown rain storm...with winds up to 88mph and you see a Police vehicle blocking the lanes of traffic, with its red and blue lights flashing, along with spot light and alley lights on, and yellow caution tape strung across the road common sense would tell you that there's probably a good reason for that Police Vehicle to be in the middle of YOUR WAY. Those with common sense would make the correct decision and turn either right or left onto the side street or make a U-turn. Those who lack common sense, ie. STUPID PEOPLE, would be under the impression that the Police Vehicle is just there blocking traffic for them so they can get to their destination that much quicker. Unfortunetly STUPID PEOPLE lack the common sense to look beyond the Police Vehicle for the reason that the Police Vehicle is there.....what's that reason you ask?? Well due to 88mph winds the 50 year old wooden power poles snapped causing the POWER lines to fall into the street for several blocks....these power lines are still LIVE. Which means you can still get ELECTROCUTED, hense the reason the Police Vehicle in blocking the street so it might not be a good idea to drive around the Police Vehicle.....also if you are one of those STUPID PEOPLE who decide to drive down the street over the wires and the wires EXPLODE there's no need to get out of your vehicle approach mine and tell me "Man did you see that? That just about scared the heck out of me", because more then likely I did see that and the reason I'm in my vehicle and not out playing in the rain looking at the sparking wires is because those wires are still LIVE!!!

So with that being said I'm only going so far to save STUPID PEOPLE from themselves and getting my happy a55 electrocuted isn't one of those ways I'm going to save you.

    End of rant.

All I can do is laugh at this because I feel the exact same way most days about 'those' people out there..... only you were a just a tad bit nicer about it.

the lights didn't clue them in....
the yellow tape didn't clue them in...
the fact that the wind was blowing almost 100, and the rain...

nah......I think they wanted to play with the live wires. They thought it would be FUN!!!!!

My favorite is the "I am oblivious to the potential for danger." Ever get that person who thinks it is ok to approach a police officer and ask what is going on or how do i get to here or there? Oh yeah make use of the above scenario but factor in about a half dozen cruisers at a scene and officers with their guns drawn.

Two summers ago, a felony vehicle stop was effected in an area with heavy pedestrian traffic. Several police vehicles with several officers with guns drawn. The oblivious tourists continued to walk amongst the officers as if we were not even there. People are so......................the complete lack of common sense amazes me.

More times than not....The yellow tape NEVER pertains to them! duh!!!
This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made.

Zany character: "Did you see that?!!"

You: "No I didn't, I've been sitting here, making a commotion like this to ensure no stupid people drive through here. What happened?"

There is nothing to see here.

But it’s a free country why can’t I go down the road, I paid my taxes. Instead of just sitting there in the middle of the road why don’t you look for real criminals? If the power is out as you say it was don’t you think the looters are going to be targeting the homes? Nope you are just sitting there in the middle of the road wasting taxpayers’ money. sheesh the audacity of some police to protect and serve.

That was a conversation I had with a resident as I was sitting on top of a live power line years ago. I kept yelling at him to get the **** away he finally got the hint, and promptly went to the station to file a complaint….cough cough round can cough cough………

Have see idiots drive past and pop a fire hose……. that was funny as hell the sight of a live fire hose smacking the crap out of a BMW with the windows down it was great.
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

You were not blocking the road. You were the welcoming committee to ensure this individual got down the road safe. It was closed for everyone BUT them.
I remember about a year ago pouring rain/ lighting a genera noreaster brought down tree and live wires along with puddled water down a local road. I arrive to shut it down. Got four cones out, and was in the PROCESS of getting flares to light and car drives right around me on the sidewalk and down to the area.
I cannot leave my post. No one else is around to stop this clown. It's BAD and the calls are backed up.
He comes back in his vehicle and I stop him. Licensed to drive in Guatemala, cannot speak a word of English and while I am trying to deal with him, I have other rocket scientists that need to do the same thing as him. Not fun. Plus a homeowner came up to me and told me his electric box was smoking down the block from where I was. Thank God that got controlled quick.
Maybe your guy was heading back to Guatemala ??

On behalf of intelligent civilians everywhere, I deeply apologize for these miscreants who make the rest of us look bad.

That reminds me of an incident I observed long ago (1973) involving a group of folks up on Mt. Baldy (in So.Cal.) who were throwing snowballs at a car that was on fire.

Eventually, of course, the fire passed through the gas line and the gas tank exploded. If memory serves me correctly, something like 16 people were badly burned.

The sight of those people running while on fire, and then so badly burned, is forever etched in my mind. Many were children and teenagers whose parents were up at the lodge, drinking.

                          Sad. Truly sad.

Not to distract from the humor of your rant -- I did laugh. But what it reminded me of sobered me up quickly.

Soup, you know better than to assume any Metro Phoenix driver knows what to do when it rains. Especially what to do with their car.

I heard it was pretty bad. My parents live up by PVMall and said any tree over 10 foot tall was uprooted in a couple mile square area.

                            Be safe bro.

I want to be a cop so I can laugh at the people and I'm not with them. This is a perfect example of not being in the group of those people. But there are a lot of reasons I want to be a cop, another being "I just reached my quota thanks!"
