  • Murderer Too Fat For Prosecution!

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) -- Prosecutors are trying to decide how to jail and bring to court a nearly half-ton, bedridden woman accused of killing her 2-year-old nephew.

A grand jury indicted Mayra Lizbeth Rosales, 27, on Thursday on one count of first-degree murder and on one count of injury to a child in the death of Eliseo Gonzalez Jr. She previously had been charged with capital murder.

Rosales weighs nearly 1,000 pounds and cannot fit through a door to leave her home, leaving prosecutors wondering how to bring her to court. As of Thursday evening, she was not in custody.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said that holding her at the county jail for her trial would be impossible because she needs extensive medical care.

"She would die," Trevino said in Thursday's online edition of The Monitor in McAllen.

The grand jury indicted Rosales after an autopsy confirmed investigators' suspicions that the child died March 18 because he had been struck. Investigators believe that the toddler was struck at least twice, crushing his head.

Authorities recommended that Rosales' bail be set at $150,000.

The boy's mother, Jaime Rosales, was charged with injury to a child because she is accused of leaving her son alone with his aunt. Her bail has been set at $100,000.

In the time between indictment and trial, ( 1 - 1 1/2 years ) she can probably loose a lot between now and trial if monitored.

I wonder if she'll even live long enough to see her trial, much less go to the death chamber. She'd break the gurney anyway, and good luck trying to find a vain...

Order her to turn herself in. She's not going to run

If when she has refused to comply, execute a warrant for her at her home. If they have to remove a wall it's no longer a problem of the agency to rebuild the house, since she refused to turn herself in. Take her giant self into the sally port on a flatbed wrecker. It's unlikely she will run so make the bond reasonable. As part of the bond condition she must lose weight. If found guilty and still to large for jail build her a tent..............................

Who would leave a 2 year old child with her as a babysitter, I mean that's insane!!!! The mother deserves a stiff sentence as well.

I imagine once you weight almost 1000 pounds, it's gonna be pretty damn hard to get down to a "reasonable weight".

Although, couldn't she just telecommute to her trial? I mean, I understand them not being able to get her to the court room but for the murder of a child, you'd think they'd be able to figure something out.

I agree. She should be tried at home, and then just put an ankle bracelet on her. Shes not going anywhere anyway. Why spend taxpayers money on her? She wont be living long either way.

I didnt vote on that however, because i dont believe in "lock her up in a pig farm."

That is really unfortunate and sad for the poor child and the parents who now have to deal with the loss. I think they should do whatever need be to get her out of that house and get to take responsibility for her actions, regardless of the costs to the tax payers.

We are dealing with the death of a child folks. The fact the suspect is a fat cow should be irrelevant. I don't care if you have to rent a dump truck, she goes to jail. While she's there her eating will be controlled (yes the old jailhouse diet) and maybe she will shed a few pounds before trial. The sheriff that said woe is me I can't handle her medical problems needs to resolve the issue while keeping her in custody, that's his job.

Who here remembers Jo Jo Gorgiani from New Jersey. I think my spelling might be off on the last name. This tub of lard weighed in at like 500 lbs or so. He raped a 14 year old girl. He got convicted. Then ..sit down for this...
THEY LET HIM OUT OF JAIL CAUSE HE PETITIONED HE WAS TOO FAT!!! Then the Sh*$ hit the fan. People protested and made a lont of noise. Even a Jersey casino got involved by releasing a boxing match video from several months prior showing this tub of lard whooping it up and having a good time.
                            He went back to jail.
Now he is involved in local government in New Jersey I think. You cannot make this up..
