  • "Narc" Review - No Spoilers

Saw "Narc" yesterday afternoon. It stars Jason Patric and Ray Liotta. All in all, it was a pretty good flick. Like most movies, there were parts that were just unrealistic, but if you're trying to find a movie that's totally realistic, I think you'd be better off sticking with the Discovery Channel. [Wink]

The movie is about an undercover narcotics officer (patric) who is involved in an unfortunate line of duty incident. He is later released from duty, pending an investigation. He then is welcomed back to the force, but only if he is to partner up with Detective Lieutenant Oak (Liotta) and help solve the mystery of a slain narcotics officer.

The movie goes on from there, and finishes up with a bang. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 rating.

Just call me Gene Siskel, baby.

Patric was pretty hot in "RUSH". What is with him and "unfortunate undercover" experiences?

I caught it a few weeks ago. The sound system in the theater I went to sucked so that made it a bad experince.
Over all it was good movie. Very dark story line and weather. It set the mood.

I was glad to see it set in Detroit. Nothing worse than being in the middle of a Minnesota winter and watching some movie set in L.A.

I liked it a lot. All I could say at the end was... Huh... It really wasn't the story I expected at all.

I don't think they filmed much if any of it in Detroit. They didn't even film "The Temptations" in Motown.

AARGH. This movie isn't in release within 30 miles of me. The closest one is 40 miles away in Boulder. I guess I'll have to wait for the video. I'm glad to here that people like it, though, the reviews were pretty positive so I've been stoked to see it.

              Is there any gunplay?

I haven't seen the movie, but if you didn't recognize the scenery it's probably because it was filmed in Canada, where it's a lot cheaper.

This movie was probably filmed across the border in Windsor, Ontario. Or possibly even Toronto. There aren't many Americans who would know the difference anyway.

Cheaper Canadian production costs are the reason why so many shows and movies have Seattle backdrops; they can film in Vancouver, a 2 1/2 hour drive away, and again few Americans outside of Seattle would notice the difference.
