With that in mind that goes for ANY city. To enjoy Thunder Bay in particular you need to be the outdoorsy type. Of course you could stay indoors and still catch all the great scenery if you have a jeep.

The scenery is beautiful, some of the best views in Canada. You do need to be an "outdoorsey" type of person though to really enjoy it.

I don't believe you'll have any prob with US$, We Canadians like taking as much money as we can get.

As for food...Sux.
Things to do...nil.

Summers a good time, Climb mountains, hike, etc.
I imagine the weather will be ok in may.

*Coyotes is cool!
*Dorian bat cave! COOL!!! (But well hidden)
*The view from Mount McKay is great, especially if you climb to the very top!
*Sleeping giant, The chimney is good place to climb - great view.

Really, It's a GREAT place for outdoors type stuff. But all the locals are really bored, they spend their time getting drunk and fighting.

My wife is from Thunder Bay. In fact we were married there two years ago.

As for a place to stay, there's a little place called the White Fox Inn that is fantastic. It's south of town. Don't know if they have any Jacuzzi's though. Then there's the Valhalla and the Norwester. Both would fill the jacuzzi requirement.

Good eats can be found all over. Armondo's is a small old-fashioned Italian place (best meal I ever had was there). The Keg is good. As is the Neebing Roadhouse.

Lot's of outdoorsy stuff to do. You could check out Old Fort William. Go hiking at the "Sleeping Giant" Provincial Park.

The wifey and I will be celebrating our 5 year at the end of May, and we will be spending a couple of days in Thunder Bay. Can anyone familiar with the area:

1.) Let me know about a nice play to stay. We are looking for a place with a jacuzzi tub. (Cue 70's "bum-chica-bum-bum" music) Mink Mountain resort south of Thunder Bay is our top choice as of now.

2.) Places to eat and things to do. The Tourism website basically leads us to believe that the only thing to do is go to the casino, or the province's largest liquor store. Neither interest us.

3.) Are we going to have a problem with U.S. currency at restuarants or shopping?
