  • LODD Larry Lasater

I received this email and decided to post it here.

This is a contest for a $100,000 prize to the firemen voted most heroic. All finalists are heroes.

However, Finalist # 9 is engine company 83 from Contra Costa County, California that attempted to save a shot police officer in Antioch. They put their lives at risk to try and save his, unfortunately the officer succumbed to his injuries.

His wife was 7 months pregnant with their first son. If the CoCoCounty guys win they are giving the money to the widow of Officer Lasater for her son, Cody.

Feel free to forward this to anyone else who may take the time to vote.

Please take a moment to look at this website.

Thanks for your time and be safe out there!
This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made.

I just voted. Thank you for sharing that with us! That video was incredibly touching. I have read some of Officer Lassater's reflections left by his wife, mother and dept. members. He was truly a loved man.

I voted for them as well.

Incidentally, Ofc. Lasater's mother has posted in many reflections on www.odmp.org in an effort to help others who unfortunately have had to go / and are going through the LODD experience. I also believe that she is good friends with the family of the LODD officer that I have listed below in my signature line.

                CTR man,

Is this the link you wanted?

I've read all of her posts. For someone in her position (losing her son), she really is a genuine "mom" and reaches out to those families who are facing similar circumstances.

                Thanks to all who responded.
