Was driving in Florida and paced by patrol on a highway. Given a citation that I was going 30 mph over limit. I know I was over 55 mph but I never looked at the speedometer. I know what the difference is between 30 and 25 over limit but the consequences of this citation are clear. My question is what typically happens in Florida in such cases, i.e. do they suspend lisence/prosecute or assess points and fine the driver? Thanks!

Mandatory court appearance and a fine up to $500(based on your record), possible driver's license suspension (based on your record) and aggressive driving school (based on your record)

Just to clarify: of course I knew I was over the limit. I didn't know if it was 30 mph or 20 mph. That range doesn't feel so different and certainly depends on the car you drive.

4 points and the fine is $250.00 if the judge is in a good mood.
If it was in a construction zone it could be doubled.
Also depends if you a habitual offender. We are Volunteers, we don't get paid for what we do
But our hope and prayers are to always see you through
We can be eating or awakened in the middle of the night
With a blast of our pagers saying There is a Fire we need to fight!
We are up and dressed and out the door
We meet sirens blaring and trucks that roar
The adrenaline pumping, were ready to go
Will we make it home? We never know.
