  • Informing the Police following an accident

I binned my sportsbike and injured myself at the weekend in Angeles National Forest (ironically on the last turn before the road turns back into regular surface streets, wasn't doing anything illegal, not even breaking the speed limit, which I know is hard to believe in LA), only myself and my bike was damaged, no other vehicles involved and the barrier I bounced off was undamaged.

I gave my details to a park ranger who stopped and I understand I have to file a report with the DMV, do I also need to talk to local law enforcement or is the report to the park ranger sufficient?

If the ranger investigated the crash, he is a law enforcment officer. If that is the case, there is no need to contact another agency.

      What Tennsix said .....

If there was something about the conversation that leads you to believe otherwise, make a simple call to the ranger himself.

We have the same things here with the Blue Ridge Parkway, the U. S. Park Rangers work the wrecks up there, they make the reports. We sometimes get to assist, but after they start up the ramps to the Parkway, it's theirs.
      Adios amigos.

Ok, that's what I thought, I'll just fill out the DMV form and send that in and then concentrate on getting better.

        Thanks guys.
