Just wondering what are the chances of that being dropped in court for a reserve police officer, first offfense, no moving violations?

I don't think I would try and play the "but I'm a reserve cop" card in court. That one could backfire on you. I assume it didn't work too well on the cop that gave you the ticket?

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in
senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
SECTION 1. 346.455 of the statutes is created to read:
346.455 Vehicles to stop at fire station.

            (1) The operator of a motor vehicle approaching an authorized
emergency vehicle shall stop not less than 30 feet from
that vehicle and shall remain stopped, if all of the following
            apply:

            (a) The authorized emergency vehicle is about to be
or is being driven backwards into a driveway entrance to
            a fire station.

            (b) The authorized emergency vehicle is giving visual
signal by means of at least one flashing, oscillating or
rotating red light or by a member of the fire department
or fire patrol standing on the roadway in a position that
is visible to approaching traffic and directing traffic to
            stop.

            (2) The operator of a motor vehicle required to stop
under sub. (1) shall remain stopped until a member of the
fire department or fire patrol directs the operator to proceed
or until the visual signal under sub. (1) (b) is terminated
and all members of the fire department or fire patrol
            have left the roadway.

So, this guy is a reserve officer and he was cited for failiing to yield to an emergency vehicle?

If you did it, it won't be dismissed because you're a reserve officer. Pay the fine and never, ever tell anyone in the department about it.

                  Response

Even though I am a reserve officer, I am not in the criminal justice program so I don't know as much about the law as others. While I don't intend to say that I am a reserve officer and that is the reason I should be let free, I can honestly say that I did not know the law about that, with regards to the actual fire pulling in and back out of a station. I should also mention that none of the firefighters hopped out of the truck to stop traffic when it backed out.

Hmm... seem to remember an old saying... ignorance, law, excuse... Oh yeah... USE COMMON SENSE! The traffic law is just like the penal law and every other law out there.... just because you don't know it's wrong... doesn't make it any less wrong. You should goto court and argue mental incompetence (hey it works for some murderers) and see if the judge will let you off for being crazy.

The flashing red emergency lights didn't give you a clue?
