  • 145+ mph on a bike

What kind of fine / suspension / jail time can one expect after being caught riding at over 145mph on a sport bike on a freeway?

  • #2
Probably a combination of all. It will most likely be predicated on past driving records for the offender.
Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence!

One prior speeding ticket 6 years ago.

Oh, there were two other bikes going the same speed, one was pulled over, the other didn't get clocked.

It depends on the fine scale of the jurisdiction you were speeding in.

Then it depends on the judge.

If you were speeding 145 mph in an urban area, the judge may toss you in the deep end.

If you were speeding 145 mph in the middle of nowhere, the judge may toss you in the shallow end.

145 mph is pretty fast, faster then your body's actual terminal velocity if you were free-falling (which is around 130 mph).

Frankly though, if there nothing but empty road ahead for miles, I can understand the urge to test one's machine.

I'd lay it all out truthfully, plead for mercy, and hope for a sympathetic judge.

            What model bike?

In Texas (Provided you live through it), you would be looking at a class B. A free stay in the county bed and breakfast for up to 90 days.
When did the eyes of Justice turn away from facts and evidence in a case and focus on the talent of the defense attorney and his abilities to suppress such facts and evidence?

If this is regarding the trooper and Gahanna cop, can we move on with our lives yet?

In Alabama, that speed would most likely result in a citation/arrest for Willful and Wanton Reckless Driving.

When they hand out the fines/suspensions/jail time I'd like to know how that compares to what average citizens get.
