I have a special plate (In God We Trust) on my 1/2 ton truck. I was told by a friend that I can't pull a trailer with my truck because the plate doesn't have the GVWR on the plate. Any truth to this??

You can pull a trailer, the In God We Trust plate is good up to 11,000 lbs, same as a standard truck plate. Indiana's BMV web site, http://www.in.gov/bmv, has the various weight classes for different plates.
