Dan, that sounds good, but much is going to depend on how many persons will be hired in the Cadet Classification. For example, if the Department intends only to hire 100 Cadets, you'll still be considerably down on the list. Another factor is the length of time the Eligibility List is good for. Should the department intend to hire an additional 100 Cadets in 2009, and the list remains valid, you'll have a shot. Basically, it's a numbers game. What I've given you is a very basic description of how it works. Many other factors can come into play, and often do. Good luck in your process.
