Where would the sleeping pill that you "thought about taking, might have taken, but now are confident you didn't take" have come from? Did you have easy access to it? Was it a family member's prescription medication?

Confident that you didn't, or "DIDN'T"?
You're still playing word games, this will not get you through the interview or poly. It sounds as if you're trying hard to cover yourself in the event that something pops up in the future,.....

They aren't asking if you thought of taking a pill. Lord knows everyone has thought about how they would get away with murder.....
I don't understand how you wouldn't remember taking it. I understand overthinking these background questions, but to me it seems you are not wanting to admit it and using blurred memory as an excuse.
Trust me they probably won't care about you taking it. Like others have said they may have some reservations with how you are answering these questions. They are "yes" or "no" If you did it, own it. If you did not do it to the best of your honest recollection, then say no.....
Departments aren't looking for perfect people, most probably prefer people with some life experiences.

So when you took the sleeping pill, was it prescribed to you or not?
Usually when people forget or over-analyze, it's because they're lying.

As for memory issues, I really don’t think so. Since high school I’ve served a 2 year service mission for my church and have worked at a bank for several years. Never had any cognitive or memory problems. Couple weeks after the concussion were a blur but that’s it

Definitely understand the concern and i know how it must sound from an outside perspective. I won’t try to excuse it, I guess I’ll just wait and see, stick with honesty and hope it works out…

A high school kid taking one sleeping pill that wasn't prescribed to him? - Not a huge deal.
But a 23-year-old who gets so rattled by a job application that he admits to something that never happened? - That's concerning.

Not sure why but I overthought this question a lot, I have never used drugs not prescribed to me but for some reason I answered yes because I thought there might have been a time
in high school that I took a sleeping pill while I was having insomnia from a recent concussion. Looking back I’m positive this didn’t happen, but like I said I was overthinking it on the question and didn’t want to omit anything, so I included it. I feel like an idiot, Should I tell the department what happened? Or am I likely gonna be DQ’d? I don’t want to come off as a liar because I genuinely was trying to be as honest as possible.

So you're not sure, you honestly just couldn't remember, if you ever took any type of medicine not prescribed to you?
