With the exception of some highway rest stops, there is no state law against sleeping in an automobile in Alabama. However, many municipalities in the state have ordinances against it.

The city I work for has a municipal code that makes it illegal to sleep in a car.

If it is illegal in your state, unless you are wasted, if you explain to the officer that you were just really tired and needed to get a few minutes shut eye, I would think they would just tell you to "move along".....not the safest thing to do though.
