        In North Carolina, theft under $1,000 is a misdemeanor with a 2 year statute of limitations.....HOWEVER, theft from an employer is a form of fraud in NC and it is a felony is NC, and there is no statute of limitations in NC for felonies.

        No one is perfect, and many people when they were younger probably stole something in their life, for example money from their parents or siblings.

        Whether you own up to it later in life is up to you. My opinion on this matter is that most places in NC would probably not hire you (just based on a strict interpretation of the law in NC), but if this happened in another state, it could be a totally different outcome.

        Like I said, NO ONE IS PERFECT. It is hard for me to distinguish when someone steals at an immature age versus why it is acceptable to hire someone who admits to smoking marijuana 10 or more times at the same age....you know? One crime is acceptable but the other is not?
