If I were to start working as one and then later want to be an LEO, how would this be viewed during the hiring process? Would it be viewed negatively?

Nah, you should be fine. And I'm sure that, if you did happen to get hired, the guys on your department wouldn't mock you in any way.

The trolls don't even try around here anymore...

I think it will make a difference on how well known you are..... and whether you'll carry a short or long barreled weapon.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I ran into an old friend of yours that give me a little insight about that issue.
If your biggest work-related fear is getting a paper cut, don't try and tell a cop how to do his job.

Work under a screen name, that way it is not really you, it is someone else.

There was a story in my local paper a few months back about a teacher who had a webcam business with her husband, filming everything from taking a shower to marital obligations. Evidently some former students found the site and word got out. When the paper called for comment, the husband's quote was, "She's pretty hot, huh?" The teacher was quickly fired and in a follow up story, she claimed to be making six figures without leaving the house and didn't miss teaching one bit.

Many, many years back, one of our officers appeared in Playboy, but it identified her as working for a civilian employer. When the brass hauled her in and questioned her about it, she explained that she posed for the photos before we hired her and while working for someone else. When asked why she didn't disclose "this issue" during her background, she pointed out there wasn't anything on the Personal History Statement asking is an applicant had ever posed nude for Playboy. Shaking their heads, the brass sent her back to work, Rookie 1, Management 0.

About seven months later, the rumor mill had it that she was to appear in Playboy again. One month after that, she abruptly resigned. The following month, she was Playmate of the Month, posing both in and out of her department uniform.

She went on to do a few B movies, but the last I heard she got married, had a kid, went back to community college to study biology and faded into obscurity.

What she did really screwed up any career she might of had, police or otherwise. It also caused the department a tremendous amount of embarrassment. Local PD officers showed up at the station with copies of her centerfold, wanting to get them autographed (one manager' standard response was, "I'm her Lieutenant, not her pimp, get the f*** out of here.") The media barraged our offices with inquiries, particularly wanting to know if she ever worked the Governor's Protective Detail. It was not pretty.

I'd rather be judged by 12 rather carried by 6.

It should be noted that any and all post that are made are based on my own thought and opinions. And are not related or implied to represent the department I work for.

Weren’t/Aren’t you already on the job?

Either way, while it’s not an illegal activity, it’s generally frowned upon. As others have said, it has he potential to open the department up to embarrassment and even potential liability.
