  • Police Officer's Medical Standard Guidelines

    Answers needed for this;

    This is question for all Police Officers out there. If Police Officer applicant passes

    written test, physigal agility test, panel interview, polygraph& background

    investigation, but when applicant goes to take pre-employment physical test,

    applicant is classified as "unfit for duty" due to a amputation of a thumb by

    accident 33 years ago. Otherwise Physical exam was OK, only reason for

    unfit for duty was amputation of thumb. Applicant was not offered chance

    to prove, that applicant can perform"essential" job functions, with or without

    reasonable accommodations. Applicant is/ has worked as a Armed Security Officer for several years, Corrections

    Officer in Maximum Security Prison, etc. with no problem whatsoever. Any suggestions how applicant should

    proceed?

    All answers are greatly appreciated, Thank you & be safe out there.
