  • Background Investigator visiting my neighbors

    Hello everyone,

Im new but I hope one day to be a police officer. I had a question, my BInvestigator has been travelling around asking people about me and such in my neighborhood. She says everything looks great. Am I nearing the end of Backgrounds? I just was curious as to the time frame and I dont want to bother her.

    Background Investigation

In very general terms, Background Investigations can involve quite a length of time. Three to six months is not all that uncommon. Checking with your neighbors is a very common aspect of a background check. Keep in mind as well, that yours may not be the only applicant file on an investigator's desk. caseloads are a constant factor in any background investigation.

Keep in mind that the BI is only one step in the hiring process. There are several others that also take time. And of course there are budgetary concerns that will determine when job offers are made.
