I really would like to become a police officer, but I have done a lot of stupid stuff in my past. I have three felonies on my record from when I use to run with a gang. I have cleaned my act up and have a family,I know that I would make a great cop because of my past. Is there anything that I can do to fullfill my dream of being a police officer.

Originally posted by lifesaving123With very few exceptions, 99.9% of the time any felony conviction will disqualify you. Only exception I can think of to this would be having a personal contact with either a sheriff or a chief of a small department who could hire you despite your convictions. What is it about, "Thou shalt not.....", do some people not understand?

He's toast. I stick with that. Too many without that crap on record to hire.
if you drove drunk 10 times in a year, never got caught, but you still did it, it would be a felony which means not a chance,,,or atleast a very, very, very, very, very, small chance.

this is what I love about this rant
All the people here seem to know it all. I have a relative who was hired by a state police dept. with this exact issue, this is the reason why I brought it up. I wanted to show him how much negative things people had to say. For all of you who said never never never your wrong, an for all of you who said keep trying , or it's possible..thanks for proving everyone else wrong. That's the thing with cops who make a judgement on someone they don't even know, they are proven wrong, especially if they have someone in LE related to them......see ya.....
