Ok all i have been dq'ed by Raytown lol i missed the last page on ap. But here is the question i am going to the academy in jan. as a non-sponserd cadet to get my 470 and open more options is this a good ideal or not.

Missing the last page of the application isn't going to shoot you down forever, although I don't recommend it as a practice. One of the many qualities agencies look for is thoroughness. I don't suppose self-sponsoring yourself through an Academy will hurt you. The main thing you have to consider is that, it's no guarantee of being hired. My thought would to be to re-apply to the original department, and put in some additional applications as well. You could then end up in the very enviable position of being able to pick and choose, and have a department pay for your academy, or at least, sponsor you.

YES. If you have been accepted to attend the academy in January go for it! Don't let that opportunity go. Once you get your certification you will look that much better to the departments.
