  • will this DQ me?

    Hello,

I'm wondering if my past drug usage will DQ me. I smoked pot a total of 4 times 5+ years ago. Also, I attempted to take ecstasy, or what my friend and I thought was x. We found some tablets in his brother's dresser and assumed they were the drug (we did some online searching after finding them and they looked like the images). After taking them we realized they were just candy. This was also 5 years ago when I was 17.

Would this DQ me? Even though I didn't technically use x, my intentions were to do so.

    Thanks

OK, I'm going to assume this is a serious question. The admitted use of marijuana (four times) will be within the tolerance levels in place with many agencies. Now to the "attempted" use of Ecstasy. With my Agency that would be a killer. While you technically didn't use the substance, you intended to, and you went to some length of obtain it. That would DQ you right there,

While it's possible, barely, that an agency might consider employing you, realistically, you're toast. What I draw from your post is a propensity to use illegal drugs. Consider that should you apply, you'll be competing with applicants who bring stellar records to the table. Your record in comparison, leaves much to be desired, and you currently would emerge as a far below average applicant.

Absolutley not. We are always looking for candidates to work narcotics. We are also in need of candidates that can't be bothered to conduct minor research (for example reading one of the hundreds of others posts by LE hopefuls that have similar questions).

My advice is to obtain a degree in something other than Criminal Justice and look for a different career.

Your "attempted use" of ecstasy is going to be a career killer in most agencies.

It doesn't matter that you didn't actually use the drug. You willfully took what you thought was ecstasy and that shows your true character.

        Find a new career

Believe we did. Maybe he thought we'd lowered the standards. He's probably been listening to Obama and Holder.

My agency will DQ you too.

The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed.

I'm pretty sure the attempted ecstasy use will get you DQed from most agencies in the country. I'd think about doing another career if I was you.

I once attempted to watch porn at work (only poor quality), while I was high on crack cocaine. I didn't buy the crack, a "friend" gave it to me and asked me to try it. Since I want to be a narcotic cop, I thought I should experience the effects. I was also married to two women and one man at he same time (I know triple misery, but it is legal here now - i believe in equal opportunity), but they didn't mind since I was soooo good in bed. I only stole 15-20 times from my previous employer (in the last two months) but they never found out so I figured why say anything, since I got away with it (they were rich anyway and wouldn't miss a few hundred thousand dollars). My pet goat has been very skiddish lately, I thought he was consenting since the sex was really great. I only have two foreclosures (in the last year) because the evil banks won't give me what I deserve. Just because my application had a couple of mistakes in it (I was drunk when I filled it out so it is not my fault), I can't understand why I get passed up for a cop job.
