  • Chief + Captain Interview

I made it through the oral board interview. I just received a letter notifying me that I will be interviewed by the Chief and Captain. Just wondering what to expect. Will it be scored similar to the oral board panel interview? Any info will help, thanks!

    99% of the time a Chief's(or Sheriff's) interview isn't "scored' as such.

It usually is more of a chance for the boss to meet the candidate and decide if the guy/gal is going to be a fit for the agency. This is where the candidate really needs to "be themselves" rather than "prepared to the nines".
Since some people need to be told by notes in crayon .......Don't PM me with without prior permission. If you can't discuss the situation in the open forum ----it must not be that important

My new word for the day is FOCUS, when someone irritates you tell them to FOCUS

This is the point where you meet the decision makers. Things like oral boards are scored to benefit these guys and give them the means to make a preliminary choice based against a standardized benchmark. When you reach the point that you are speaking with the Chief/Sheriff he/she can make the decisions based on personal observations without needing to have a standard form of evaluation to use as a reference.

There is no stock answer, but don't expect it to be graded per se. It may be formal or informal. It may be a gab session or there may be scenario questions. It is an opportunity for the command staff to see the top candidates and pick their favorite.

It'll be different from agency to agency. One of my good buddies was very informal. The top cop drove him around the jurisdiction and bought him lunch. That was his "interview."

Just did the interview yesterday. I think it went well. They just asked about any skeletons in my closet that they may find during my background investigation. I talked about it all, which were already brought up during my initial interview with the panel. Other than that, it was mostly conversational.

              I have my fingers crossed!
