If you told me that you had been driving without insurance for 2 yrs & 7 months (and KNEW you didn't have insurance) I would DQ you for a lot longer than 1 year.

I would want 3-5 yrs of LEGAL driving before I even considered you.

    But that is just me
My new word for the day is FOCUS, when someone irritates you tell them to FOCUS

Consider for just a moment the facts of the story you gave us. Up until six months ago you were showing a profound disregard for the law, but now you feel that you should be considered to be one of the guardians of that same law. Do you see a potential conflict in this situation?

Driving without insurance is a huge problem. What happens if you get into a car accident? What happens if your car gets hit? What happens when you hit someone else?

Big fines and a MASSIVE amount of civil liability.

You showed blatant disregard for a requirement mandated by law and expect to be allowed into the group that enforces that said law? Go find a different job; I don't want to work with you any time soon (5-10 years).

The decision to drive without insurance was a violation of law, and a conscious choice. That bad call is aggravated by the length of time you operated a vehicle w/o insurance. It would be a DQ with my Agency. Perhaps not lifetime, but you wouldn't want to be holding your breath.

Not only were you in violation of the law- you put others at considerable risk. While you were lucky, what would have happened if you were involved in an accident that caused catastrophic injury or property damage?

If it were me I would expect to see you waiting a while longer.

I don't know about the other LEOs on this forum, but I have not once driven a car without required insurance. How many times did you drive in 2 1/2 years did you drive?

So since you'll never be able to drive 100% of the time with insurance, why don't you come back and reapply after 90% of the number of times you've driven is with insurance? That should take you a few (like 90ish) years.

You will be waiting a LOT longer than a year for most agencies here in SoCal, you will likely be waiting 3-6 years.....as you were committing a CVC violation each and every time you got behind the wheel in those 2 1/2 years you where driving without insurance as required by law........and those 3-6 years will have to be without ANY further CVC violations as well

You will NEVER get hired at my agency for such blatant disregard of the laws.

If you can't obey the law, indeed knowingly and willfully violate it, what makes you think you should suddenly be trusted with enforcing it... Citing or even arresting for laws you flouted just a few months ago?

An average of 4 times behind the wheel per day for 2.5 years is about 15,000 violations?
