I was told that if I have been through an oral board I know the anchor words I need to hit.Problem is I have not been through an oral board yet and have no idea what these words would even be. Any ideas?

I don't know about others, but I have been part of hundreds of oral boards and there aren't really any "anchor words" that I or anyone else is looking for. We are looking for someone who is well dressed, well groomed, mature, articulate, etc. A loser saying an "anchor word" is still a loser.Last edited by just joe; 11-04-2009, 01:03 PM. -

"We know when you are telling us what we want to hear, and we know when your answers are from a book or rehearsed."
just joe is absolutely correct. reading through the threads will give you and idea of what is going to be asked. also, use a search engine on "common police board questions". write out 8-10 questions that commonly appear in all the sites you find.
for example: why do you want to be a cop? why this department? what are your strengths? weaknesses? ect.
i answered these questions while looking in a mirror and tape recording myself. i saw any mannerisms that made me look uncomfortable and also replayed my responses. you'd be surprised how many times you unknowingly say "um" and "uh". good luck.what do you mean this ain't yours? it was in your car right?Comment
