This topic has been covered in numerous threads in this forum. Please use the search feature for more info. Short answer, no, it won't "transfer" to a civilian (including federal) law enforcement agency, unless of course they require the same clearance.

    Security clearance question

Greetings all, been awhile since I've posted but here goes...

I'm currently in the process to obtain a TS/SCI full-scope poly clearance sponsored by the NSA. It's for a non-law enforcement position (computer stuff), but I'm considering a "career change" (in quotes because I haven't even started my career yet, haha). I'm 21 years old, senior in college, majoring in Information Technology.

My question is this: (Assuming I obtain my clearance) if I wanted to change careers and apply at some law enforcement agencies, would my existing Top Secret clearance transfer over during the hiring process? Or do agencies require their own clearance process irregardless of existing clearances?

Either way, would an existing TS clearance be looked upon favorably by agencies? I would primarily be interested in federal 1811 positions.

    Thanks
