  • Residency Requirement Question

    Hey all,

I am looking to take tests to become a police officer, hopefully in NYS. I grew up in Warren County, about 60 miles north of Albany. I now go to college at SUNY Albany which, naturally, is in Albany County. I am looking to take a couple of local tests but I am confused on a particular requirement.

A lot of the tests I am looking at are within Albany County. Most of them have a residency requirement in order to sit for the exam. They require applicant to reside in Albany or contiguous county thereof.

I live (reside?) in a dormitory on the SUNY campus in Albany county. During the academic year I have a permanent room, phone number, and a mailing address.

Do I qualify under the residency requirement for these exams?

    Thank you!

Residence in most cases goes by where you get your mail sent to and where your drivers license is. Your residence would be your home address on your license. Its the same if your in the military.
    I don't answer recruitment messages....
