stay or move?

I live in Dallas,TX right now and eventually would like to be a police officer for the City of Boston, MA or work for the Massachusetts State Police. I am 19 yrs old and many departments (from what I have found) do not begin the hiring process until age 21. I was not sure if I should try to become a local officer and then put in for a transfer, or move to Massachusetts (live there 1 yr. to become resident) and apply when I am 21.

From what I've heard, it can be very difficult to enter LE in Mass. That seems to be at both the local and state levels. OTH, the DFW Area has many agencies, thus many opportunities to enter the profession. You could also look into the Texas Department of Public Safety. If you're absolutely determined to go to Boston, go for it, and I wish you the very best of luck. Just my.02

Go to college while you still have the time and ambition to do so. This career isn't going anywhere anytime soon...too many stupid people out there to let that happen.
