As a recruiter, rule number 1 is always tell the truth.

The police culture requires an officer to always tell the truth. We need to know that when an Officer takes the stand in a trial that they will always tell the truth. The evaluation of that ability begins in the hiring process.

Remember we are trying to hire you. We are not selecting the next Pope. We realize that often when we are younger we will make mistakes. As a recruiter I am looking for a pattern of misconduct which may not make an individual appropriate for law enforcement

An otherwise qualified candidate will get DQ for lying in the process. Often the incident would not have DQ the candidate.

Bottom line recommendation: tell the truth, the complete truth.
