"City Employee", and I am req'd to carry my Badge and ID when armed off duty.
The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed.

    I Am the Sheepdog.

I just tell them I'm a policeman......(Don't carry a badge when I'm not working either. Just ID way in the back of my wallet.) I never really understood the guys who were so careful about not telling anyone they were a policemen, but who also carried an extra wallet in their other back pocket with a badge in it.....Not many folks other than cops carry two wallets around......

I tried the "I work for the city" line once but didnt get far because the next question was, "oh, what department?"

I just tell people that I'm a cop... No secrets, but cautious...

Cardboard and Paper Distributor worked for me until someone started talking nonstop about how Hemp was the most popular and economically viable paper product in it's day (or something like that). "Of course, you know all that since you are in the paper business," he said. When my buddies told him what I really do for a living, ihs jaw dropped and he walked away into the sunset, never to be seen again.

Have to come up with something different now.
It's all fun and games 'till the cops show up!

Hopefully that buys me enough time to get to my weapon. Its a matter of self preservation, nothing more. You do things your way, I mine....
Me= seperate cred case and wallet. I have nothing cop related in my wallet.

I carry the second wallet with the creds. The reason I dont always tell people I am a cop is for social reasons. Complete strangers dont ask me what I do so there has already been some sort of social interaction if they are asking me that question. The reason I don't like people knowing is because of the follow-up questions....just look at the 'Ask A Cop' section here. I get anything from "How do I get out this ticket?" to "Do you know Officer Friendly?" to "Is it legal to........". Sometimes I would just rather enjoy the party and the football game without talking shop to somebody I barely know who does not understand what being a cop is all about.

I tell them I am a City Trash man and they never ask me a question about anything. It works great..I love it. Hence my screen name.

I usually tell me people that, until I grow up, I am still looking for a real job! Most people know quite quickly who I am and what I do, as I have not lived nor worked anywhere with a population of more than 17000.

I work at a plastics plant. I assemble "big wheels" . Everyone had one as a kid and usually stems happy thoughts. I am the brake man and if I have a couple guys with me, they do stickers and pedals. Can really roll with the story ...no pun intended
