More likely, ten years from now you’ll be living in a van down by the river, addicted to meth, blaming everything wrong in your life on the CHP.

    Good luck.
    CHP needs car washers.

Maybe you should have a thought not suggested by rappers and others.

The only person that knows if you will pass.. Is you. We can all speculate but who knows?

    Few do

Been focusing on physical fitness, cleaning up the diet, and keeping my nose clean.
    Solid practice regardless of profession.

Yes. The dream is still alive.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

    Infatuation? Sudden obsession? Fascination? Perhaps.

You have provided no evidence this is a long term goal, and quite a bit of evidence to the contrary.

    “Why would they hire you?”

That question now drives me every single day.
…yet you fail to provide an answer.

Will I ever become a LEO? Guess we’ll find out. But it certainly won’t happen if I give up.
True, and you may have a petter chance with something other than CHP.

    What’s life without a dream?
Youre setting yourself up for perpetual victimhood syndrome.

To anybody coming here and reading this in perhaps similar situations.. trying to keep your dream alive.. just know you’re gonna have to work extra hard to even have a shot. And understand that you may give this 1000% and have a .01% of achieving. Now, if you’re okay with those odds then carry on.

I’m simply listening to my heart. It hasn’t yet told me to give this
up. In fact, it’s telling me to keep going.

    What’s life without a dream?

Based on your original post, I don’t see a chance of you getting accepted. However, it being California you may have a shot. Change Sides and in todays CA, you might have a shot.

He might be able to be the "part of the CHP" that washes the patrol cars and gasses them up for the next shift...

I am currently in the hiring process with the California Highway Patrol.
You have never explained in this entire thread why you suddenly want to be a traffic ciop, or any kind of cop. Maybe I missed it.

Everyone around me thinks/tells me I'll have an invite to the academy soon but it just doesn't seem real.
It probably isn't. Who around you knows anything about law enforcement hiring?

I am 26 years old. I've held my job as a technician at a Department of Defense sub-contractor company for 1 year and 3 months. No tickets/infractions/collisions/drug use in 3 years. But..
That's a start, but you have a long way to go.

Multiple traffic infractions. 7 out of 8 tickets issued by CHP (speeding, etc.)
Infractions, or traffic misdemeanors? If they truly are infractions, another few years with no further violations might work. If you have multiple traffic misdemeanors you probably have no chance with a traffic oriented agency.

    Multiple collisions
19 years old with a Yamaha R6 (dumb decision)
Brakes went out on a 1995 Civic and coasted into someones rear bumper. Surprisingly no damage at all. Not even a paint scratch.
Hit a pedestrian coworker at 3-5mph turning into work parking lot in 2019. Witness stated pedestrian jumped in front of me. Found at fault.
Your attempts to minimize your behavior are a very bad sign.

    Spotty employment history.
Never kept a job for longer than 6 months prior to the one I hold now. Left 6/8 jobs without notice.
5-10 years of steady employment might overcome this.

Smoked marijuana approximately 200 times throughout 4 year span (18-21 years of age)
Given that it's California this probably doesn't officially matter.

Self admitted driving under the influence (alcohol) at 19 years old.
I've seen guys hired with DUIs, but far in the past and not with traffic-oriented agencies.

I was previously disqualified from LAPD. The letter stated Decision Making and Judgment and Record Checks (employment, driving) as the reasons.
I'm surprised they told you why, but those sound reasonable.

Do I have a shot? I have my background orientation and oral interview on the 21st of this month.
    Probably not.

Needless to say, I learned my lesson
There is no evidence to indicate this is true.

and I've done everything in my power to make this dream of mine come true thus far. Thanks!!
There is nothing to indicate this is any kind of long term "dream" or that you've done anything to prepare yourself for a law enforcement career in any way.

Law Enforcement is all about judgement and liability. Why would a department accept the liability of hiring you? What evidence do they have that you are reliable, conscientious, exercise good judgement? None at all, frankly. They are going to give you a gun and a badge and make you decide whether to shoot people. Why would they give that to YOU?

A few more years of keeping your nose clean maybe, but not on a year and a half work history, multiple citations, multiple crashes, a DUI, and less than five years since all of that.

Only time can tell. You seem to be honest and upfront. Which is a quality that they look for. Only your background investigator could give you a realistic opinion of if you will pass backgrounds. I'll leave you with this.. The process of applying to most agencies is tough. CHP is very tough. Id know because I recently went through it. Every step forward is good and a step closer.
