  • Background investigation

    Hi everyone!
looking for some advice. I started my background with a local PD here in Pennsylvania. I met with him mid January. We went over my background packet. After that he took me to get my DNA and fingerprints. Its now April and I haven't heard a peep. I had a question for him regarding residency in which i called him about 2 weeks ago. Still not a peep. Should I be concerned? I understand BI are collateral duty but I would think if I was disqualified for any reason I would have heard something?

Each agency works on it's own timeline .

Since some people need to be told by notes in crayon .......Don't PM me with without prior permission. If you can't discuss the situation in the open forum ----it must not be that important

My new word for the day is FOCUS, when someone irritates you tell them to FOCUS

      Two rules of LE hiring...

      1. No news is good news. If you were DQ'ed, you would have been notified. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that the hiring process hasn't stalled, been put on hold, or the position no longer exists for other reasons. So, with the being said, rule #2...

      2. Don't put all you eggs in one basket. If you're sitting there waiting for a single department to get back to you, you havn't applied to enough departments. Don't sit on your hands waiting for THE phone call. Apply to other departments. Now, that doesn't mean you necessarily "shotgun" apply to every department you can find, but you should have multiple applications out to departments that you would happily say yes to if they called.

Understandable. I guess there is no rush being the local academy doesn't start until the end of July. Thank you for the input.

I was wondering why more places don't swab you for DNA during the BI. I imagine they'd pop some sex offenders during the BI.
