Plymouth Gran fury. Had a place for the night stick by the rocker that was very handy as you exited the car and was out of the way when you didn't need it. It also had a lip on the dash where you could wedge a cup of coffee between the winshield and it wouldn't spill even through high speed maneuvers. The front seats were seperate but had enough space in between where you could wedge your memo book and flashlight there. The car was bare bones but had a place for all your gear by accident as if St. Michael the patron saint of police designed a police car.

Dear Lord, dude...what was the name of the first horse you rode on patrol? Did the chariots handle well on those cobblestone streets?

A cops first assignement in those days was a footpost. A horse would be a step up, and one of the precincts I worked in still had some cobblestone streets with trolley tracks running through them.
          Good times.

My favorite is my current, which is a 2021 Ford Police Interceptor SUV Explorer with the EcoBoost engine. It is VERY fast, stable at high speed, is AWD, has good visibility for a police car, has really good lighting package, has a pretty good sized cargo area, and it is easy to get the bad peoples into and out of. My only complaint is that it is so low to the ground. I just damaged the brush guard re-entering the roadway after a traffic stop.

I had a Dodge Durango before this, and I was happy with it...other than it was governed at 118. I regularly zip into the 130's with ease going after speeders with my current ride, but so far, I haven't been in a pursuit with it. I'm confident it would hold its own with most vehicles out there, but since I have about 2 months to go, I will do what I can to not put it to the test.

The Gran Fury had doors that when opened could knock a fleeing perpetrator to the ground making apprehension quite easy. Very high tech stuff for the 80’s.

CVPI. Nothing has EVER compared. I've been in a Chevrolet Tahoe for a long time now and have had countless problems with all sorts of components on the vehicle. Never had issues like this with the CVPI. I had the chance to drive a Chevrolet Caprice, which was misleading because of how fast it is. A Caprice would probably outdo a Charger in the right configuration. A charger was good, but I'm kind of large so it was unfun for anything that required getting in and out a lot. Durango was a good patrol car too, the interior you would almost forget you were in a Durango because it and the Charger are identical. Obviously the acceleration is a bit lacking in the Durango when compared to some of the sedans, but it blows the Tahoe out of the water for sure.

I've driven a lot of patrol cars. I'd say second favorite to the CVPI would be one of the newer model Ford Police Interceptors (which is the explorer) or the Charger. Because despite its size, it was fast, had good control and when we had the all wheel drive version I could do just about anything.
